What is a ‘Yes-no’ Question?
বাক্যের subject-এর পূর্বে শুধু auxiliary verb ও তারপর main verb ব্যবহার করে যে প্রশ্নবোধক বাক্য গঠন করা হয়, সেটিই yes-no question-এর বাক্য। এ সকল প্রশ্নবোধক বাক্যের উত্তর ‘হ্যাঁ’ বা ’না’ বলেই দেয়া যায়।
গঠন প্রনালী: Auxiliary verb + subject + main verb + অনান্য শব্দ / শব্দ সমষ্টি
Example:
- I read a book. Do I read a book? [Answer: yes, (I do)]. আর যদি না-বোধক জবাব দিতে চাই তবে: No, (I don’t)
- I am reading a book. Am I reading a book? [Answer: yes, (I am)]. আর যদি না-বোধক জবাব দিতে চাই তবে: No, (I am not)
- He has read a book. Has he read a book? [Answer: yes, (he has)]. আর যদি না-বোধক জবাব দিতে চাই তবে: No, (he hasn’t)
- He had read a book. Had he read a book? [Answer: yes, (he had)]. আর যদি না-বোধক জবাব দিতে চাই তবে: No, (he hadn’t)
- I have been reading a book. Have I been reading a book? [Answer: yes, (I have been)]. আর যদি না-বোধক জবাব দিতে চাই তবে: No, (I haven’t been)
এভাবে বারো tense-এরই yes কিম্বা no দ্বারা জবাব দেয়া যায়, তেমন ধরনের প্রশ্নবোধক বাক্য তৈরী করা যায়। নিম্নে প্রতিটি tense-এর একটি করে বাক্য ও তার প্রশ্ন কেমন হবে তা দেখানো হলো।
